No ano seguinte, a pedido do Padrinho Sebastião, chegou ao Rio de Janeiro acompanhado do Padrinho Mário Rogério para orientar os primeiros grupos daimistas que se formavam no Rio e em Visconde de Mauá.
Padrinho Corrente, como fiel discípulo, acreditava na verdade do Padrinho Sebastião, procurando seguí-la e transmití-la. E também possuía o dom para lidar com a alma humana, principalmente a feminina, e muito contribuiu na expansão da Doutrina além da floresta.
Juntos estavam sempre gracejando como dois meninos.

Éramos sete mulheres ao redor de sua cama. Mesmo deitado comandava o trabalho. Sua fé e firmeza nas medicinas sagradas, um estímulo e aprendizado para nós, participantes.
"Aqui vai mudar muito. Vem muito estrangeiro, muita gente sabida. Quem está aqui e não segurar, não fica.
Muita coisa vai acontecer como no mundão lá de fora e não vão se espantar."
Depois de três anos e meio de sua passagem foi inaugurada a Santa Casa de Misericórdia Padrinho Manoel Corrente da Silva, que segue o perfil do ilustre patrono.
Esta pequena homenagem ao Padrinho Corrente, lembrando a data de seu aniversário, é em nome das Mulheres e de todos que o conheceram não só em matéria como espiritualmente, pelo seu amor e dedicação à Santa

O sogro por muito tempo se declarava inimigo, até que as circunstâncias o levaram para a casa da filha, conhecendo o genro que o ajudou até o final de sua vida, se tornando grandes amigos.
Maria Corrente era parteira, além de trabalhar lado a lado com ele recebendo e ajudando os necessitados.

Sua casa sempre cheia era um ponto de encontro onde muito se aprendia. Com seu espírito brincalhão dava risadas com coisas que somente ele percebia, ou das besteiras que ouvia. E muito zangado ficava com a desobediência e rebeldia.

Com uma vassoura tentou espantá-lo e cada vez o louro subia mais alto. Então foi para o terreiro, pegou uma vara bem comprida em baixo de casa e só entrou quando conseguiu tirar o louro do pé de maracujá.
Passou ainda três dias sem brincar com o pássaro que ficou triste como um menino que recebe castigo.
